Prefontaine Shorts - Perfect Pattern Parcel #2

prefontaine shorts

Have you seen my Celestial Tee yesterday? The pattern is part of the Perfect Pattern Parcel #2, a package of five cute girls' patterns, available for a limited time only. When buying the bundle, you can decide on your own price, plus you support indie designers AND a good cause!

So, since it's KCW after all, I decided to quickly finish another pattern from the Perfect Pattern Parcel #2, the Prefontaine Shorts by Made with Moxie. I made size 5 for Meike, in a starred quilting cotton. I finished the shorts with hot pink bias tape.

Celestial Tee - Perfect Pattern Parcel #2

Hi there, glad you dropped by for my turn on the Perfect Pattern Parcel #2 Blog Tour! It's my turn at last to share my Celestial Shirt with you. It's my first KCW-finish as well, so a multipurpose post it is. I don't think Perfect Pattern Parcel needs an introduction anymore, since so many gorgeous bloggers have already shared their creations, but for those who have missed out so far, Perfect Pattern Parcel is an initiative that supports both indie pattern designers AND a good cause. It consists of a pattern bundle, available for a limited time only, for which you can choose your own price! Don't think it can come any nicer than that, right? I already bought Parcel #1 a while ago, five lovely ladies patterns, so I jumped at the chance to sew something to show you from Parcel #2, five adorable girls patterns.

This pattern consists of the following patterns: Hanami Top or Dress by Straight Grain, Hosh Pants by LoubeeClothing, Celestial Tee by Figgy’s, September Tunic & Dress by Too Sweets Patterns and the Caroline Party Dress by Mouse House Creations. If you decide to pay $24 or more for this bundle, you even receive a bonus pattern, Prefontaine Shorts by Made With Moxie. I received the whole bundle to sew something to show off here and was determined to sew a whole load of clothes for my girls. However, both life and an online fabric store did not cooperate (these are the days I consider moving away from my sweet tiny island without a fabric store...), so at the moment it's just one tee to show here, but more PPP-creations will follow soon!

But hey, isn't this one shirt adorable? It's the Celestial Tee by Figgy's in the smallest size, 18 months. A bit large for our 14 month old Linde, but my guess is she'll fully rock it this summer. In line with KCW's Mini&Me theme I used an old (or more accurately: unwanted) shirt with lots of stretch in a bright blue. Since the stretch and recovery were both wonderful, I didn't use any interfacing on the neckline, nevertheless the endresult looked very neat.

The pleats on the front neck give the basic shirt a little extra. All instructions are very clear and the entire project is a quick sew. The only modification I made was shortening the back bodice by approximately 2" in the middle. The pattern has a very pronounced lower back bodice with a steep curve at the back, but since the shirt was already a bit on the large side, I decide to soften this curve by shortening the "flap" at the bottom of the back bodice.

All in all there will definately be more Celestial Tees in her future. I already traced a larger size for her big sister as well, but next in line is a pair of Prefontaine Shorts first. Another quick sew, suitable for both knit and woven, so a great stash buster I think! It's almost done, so I hope to share it with you this weekend... If you're new here, you can follow me via Bloglovin or Facebook, to see what else I make with the Parcel Patterns!

Want to give it a go yourself? You can buy the pattern here at Perfect Pattern Parcel, it's still available for a little less than a week now, so pick your price, support charity and get your patterns!

Fjoertoer - Weekly Pin Project #35

Picture: S. Kok
A few days late, and this Pin Project isn't even actually a bonafide Pin Project, it's my largest work project of the year, which is such a great and visually interesting project that I have pinned multiple images on my board "Terschelling". So it's actually the other way around: usually I re-create pinned projects, this time the pins refer to a project I co-created in the first place. This project is the main reason for the quiet time over here on the blog, it's quite a large event, a walk in the night for 4.000+ people, along fires and works of art, for which I coordinate licences, safety and medical organisation. A short movie on this year's Fjoertoer can be seen here, I'd love to hear what you think of it!

52 Weeks Photo Project - Week #14

With almost a week delay, last week's pics of the kids! Linde, ready for mischief...

... Meike, diligently drawing...

... and Ties, proudly returning home with his new toy-chainsaw and wheelbarrow, for which he saved his birthday money.

Masu Box - Weekly Pin Project #34

origami masu box

One of the fun things of motherhood (sometimes one of the more annoying parts) is reliving parts of your own childhood. And thus, Meike and I spent a Sunday morning diligently folding boxes.

masu box origami

Though I have spent hours, days, doing origami as a kid, I couldn't remember much of the patterns. However, this pin clearly explained the trick.

We made a bunch, #15 was neat at last!

Birthday Boy

Bimaa sweater cowl

A week ago already, but after pics of the Bimaa and the Boats, now pics of these together with the birthday boy!

We had a wonderful day and he enjoyed his first week of kindergarten immensely.

We had fun with the Incognito Kit, sent to him by Boef...

... and he adored the new big-boy-bike we gave him!
